Discover the Innovative Technology Behind Contoura LASIK

Vision,,Eye,Exam,And,Healthcare,With,A,Doctor,Woman,OrKeamy Eye & Laser Centre always remains on the cutting edge of vision treatments, with Contoura LASIK, the latest groundbreaking service added to the list. While it uses the same type of laser present in traditional LASIK and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), Contura utilizes more data points to create a personalized laser procedure. Learn about Contoura LASIK from your eye care specialists at Keamy Eye & Laser Centre.

What Is Contoura LASIK?

Contoura LASIK combines two treatments: vision topography from Contoura and laser eye treatment from LASIK. The procedure generates data on your eyes, which are unique from anyone else’s.

Depending on what the data reveals, the surgeons will decide how to proceed with the LASIK treatment. In some cases, you may need a higher level of treatment in one eye than the other.

During Contoura LASIK, a surgeon focuses a laser to improve corneal irregularities based on an eye map with 22,000 corneal elevation points. The procedure takes under 30 minutes per eye and is FDA-approved.

Who Is a Candidate of Contoura LASIK?

Before you receive Contoura LASIK at Keamy Eye & Laser Center, you will have a consultation with a LASIK specialist to determine your candidacy. Ideal candidates for Contoura LASIK may have astigmatism, irregular corneas, and/or nearsightedness.

Most patients who are turned down for the procedure have a prominent nose and/or brow that would prevent the Contoura data mapping from gathering the information it needs.

What Is the Recovery Like for Contoura LASIK?

After you receive the procedure, you might have a bit of discomfort or pain in the treated eye, which is normal. You will leave with protective eye shields to begin your recovery.

You should not apply makeup around the eye for roughly seven days and avoid swimming for a few weeks. Otherwise, you can resume reading, driving, and other activities in your day-to-day life in as little as two days after the procedure.

The overall recovery period is three months. You will notice marked vision improvements after the procedure that will continue gradually getting better over time.
