February is known as the month of love. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor this February and get an eye exam.
Regular eye exams are vital to preserving your vision and eye health by being able to detect and prevent more significant issues and diseases that may occur. One of these diseases being glaucoma, which can develop without noticeable or painful symptoms. Many patients may not notice that anything is wrong until substantial and irreversible damage has already been done. Detecting serious diseases like that early on provides more options for treatment and reduced risk of sustaining permanent damage.
During your eye exam, your doctor will check your eyes for refractive errors and common conditions like:
- Amblyopia
- Strabismus
- Presbyopia
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic eye disease
These eye tests examine all areas of your eye, including a visual field test, dilation, glaucoma test, slit-lamp examination, cover test, retinoscopy, and refraction. These tests are performed right in our office and are completely safe.
We recommend seeing a doctor for a comprehensive eye exam every one to three years. However, if you know you are at risk of disease or physical conditions or if you are elderly, we recommend coming in more often. And don’t forget about the kids, children should have regular tests to ensure their vision is developing correctly.
Even if your eyes are healthy, you should still have a regular eye exam. As mentioned before, several scary eye diseases do not manifest symptoms and it’s important to treat them right away.
And if your exam results show that you need glasses, our practice offers an optical shop with the latest eyeglass frames to suit any style and budget. We love to provide our patients with trendy eyewear that can be selected conveniently at our office.
We proudly offer frames from high-end designers and brands such as Michael Kors, Lacoste, Nine West, DKNY, Easy Clips, and more. You can stop by the shop today to see what we have in store.
