BOTOX® is a purified protein that can reduce and smooth wrinkles. It relaxes dyanamic muscles softening the lines. For example, the frown lines between the brows can be reduced with BOTOX®. This is a non-surgical procedure that takes just 10 minutes in Dr. Keamy’s office. The tiny injections feel like a small bug bite. Most patients can return to work after the procedure. Most patients see results within 3-10 days. The effects last up to 4 months in most patients. Not all patients are candidates. Patients who have local infections, neurological disorders (ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome) or who are pregnant or nursing are not candidates. Side effects are rare but include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, nausea, temporary eyelid droop, erythema at site injection, and muscle weakness. Juvéderm™ is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and wrinkles, crow's feet, thinning lips and loosening skin. It can also "plump up" the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. Juvéderm comes in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Results last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection. Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for months or years, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish. For more information on Radiesse, click here.
Restylane is a cosmetic filler that creates volume in the depression of a fold or wrinkle. Most often it is used in the nasolabial folds. It consists of non-animal based hyaluronic acid which reduces the risk of allergic reaction and eliminates animal-based disease transmission. Unlike with collagen injection, prior allergy testing is not required. Restylane is biodegradable and compatible with human hyaluronic acid. Prior to treatment to avoid increased bruising or bleeding, patients should avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high Vitamin E doses. Patients with prior cold sores may also be at risk for a recurrence. Restylane is injected with a tiny needle right into the depression of the skin fold. The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes. There is some discomfort so patients may wish to have localized anesthesia prior to injection. Some erythema and swelling may persist for a few days after the procedure. The site of injection must be iced after the procedure for 24 hours. Returning to work right after the procedure is not recommended. Restylane differs from BOTOX®. It fills static lines whereas BOTOX® relaxes muscles smoothing dynamic lines. Some patients get their desired look by using both products. Restylane lasts up to 6 months. Formerly known as Radience, Radiesse is a synthetic injectable filler that non-surgically reduces most wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting your body's natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse is made from the same minerals found in our bones, so it carries no risk of allergic reaction (unlike collagen, which requires a skin test) - just one of its advantages over alternative treatments. Radiesse can be used on many areas of the body, but the most effective areas treated are the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures. 
LATISSE is a new FDA approved prescription for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. Eyelash hypotrichosis is a condition of having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. LATISSE affects the eyelashes gradually. Clinical trials showed improvement in 2 months. In clinical trials LATISSE has been shown to be safe. Patients with previous eye pressure problems, or on medications for glaucoma, or with risk factors for glaucoma should be thoroughly before starting LATISSE. Some side effects of LATISSE include itching and eye redness. Less common side effects include darkening of the skin, eye irritation, dryness, or redness of the eyelids.
