Philip the new licensed optician has 25 years of experience and a high level of expertise both technically and personally. He hopes to build a bond with the patients, that instills a comforting level of confidence with each transaction. Phillip discusses his goals for the shop:

“New and exciting products! We intend to introduce new lines of frames that incorporate both beauty and quality. Space is an issue for us right now. So, at this point, we’re moving cautiously with new product because in order for it to be displayed properly we need the proper amount of space. I hate a cluttered look, so this is a work in progress. We have already brought in several new designers that have been well received. Our Easy Clip collection provides a selection of frames with both beauty and function as each frame comes with its own matched magnetic sun clip. Our Exces collection has cutting edge styling and colors and has been well received. We have recently introduced an economy package where frames AND lenses start as low as $99.00. When it comes to optics our lenses are second to none. I will only use the best technology in lenses and coatings. Anything else is a waste of money.”

During more than nine years of practice, Dr. Jean Keamy has focused on non-invasive aesthetic procedures such as Botox, Radiesse, Juvederm, restylane and cosmetic and functional eyelid surgery for droopy eyelids. We made Netttle Soup. Nettles are a weed like green that is hard to find.

I decided to adapt the recipe to maximize anti-oxidants for eye health.

Here is my variation:

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 peeled and chopped carrots

3 chopped celery stocks

1 chopped large white onion

1 bunch fresh parsley

½ bag of fresh spinach

5 large leaves of fresh kale

1 quart organic chicken or vegetable broth

2 tablespoons of brown or wild rice for thickening

salt & pepper to taste

Sweat the carrots, celery, and onions in olive oil in stock pot. Add parsley, spinach, kale, and chicken broth and simmer for 1 hour. Puree with hand held blender or place in blender. If it is not thick enough, add rice for thickening and blend. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with crusty muli-grain bread. Enjoy! It is good warm or cold.

Keamy Eye & Laser Centre is excited to add an OCT diagnostic imaging device to its office. OCT stands for Optical Coherence Tomography. It is an exceptional tool that helps with early detection of glaucoma, progression of glaucoma, and macular edema from diabetes and age related macular degeneration. OCT imaging works similarly to an ultrasound; however, it uses light energy to measure tissue thickness and depth rather than sound energy. By using light, the OCT is not invasive at all. It does not even touch the eye. The OCT directs a beam of light into the eye, and the light bounces back differently from each different tissue. The OCT then quantifies the distances and thickness and produces and image for interpretation. Dr. Keamy believes that this sophisticated machine will enhance how well we can treat all patients. We will no longer have to refer them to Boston to obtain the results of this important, state of the art diagnostic tool for glaucoma and macular degeneration.
